Itinerary

Day 1: Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Your journey begins at Momella Gate after registration and briefing inside Arusha National Park. The trek starts through open savannah and forested terrain where wildlife such as giraffes, buffalo, and monkeys are often seen along the trail, creating a unique walking safari experience.

The path gradually ascends into a lush montane forest filled with rich birdlife and towering trees. After several hours of steady hiking, you arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner, rest, and overnight stay, surrounded by the peaceful mountain environment.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut, Night Summit Attempt

After breakfast, you continue your ascent through the scenic forest zone into moorland landscapes with dramatic views of the crater and surrounding valleys. The trail becomes steeper as you approach Saddle Hut, where you rest and prepare for your summit attempt.

In the evening or around midnight, the final climb begins toward the summit of Mount Meru (Socialist Peak). The ascent is challenging but rewarding, following a narrow ridge with breathtaking views as the sun rises over the African plains. After reaching the summit, you descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest.

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Momella Gate

After a brief rest and breakfast, you begin your final descent through the lush rainforest back to Momella Gate. The trail offers a relaxing downhill walk with chances to spot wildlife once again along the way.

As you exit Arusha National Park, you receive your climbing certificate, marking the successful completion of your 3-day Mount Meru expedition. This descent concludes a powerful and compact trekking experience filled with adventure, scenery, and achievement.
